Photographing Your Building, Introduction
Hope This Guide Helps

Welcome To Our Guide

Photographing Your BuildingWelcome to our 'Photographing Your Building' online guide. I have tried to keep things as simple as possible with this guide and not turn it into a boring lecture on outdoor photography. The whole point of GeoDock Bricks & Mortar™ is that you, the business owner, have a bit of fun photographing your building with the chance to pass this enlightened view onto your public in the form of a 3D SKP model. 'Fun' being the operative word, honestly!

I'll start by listing some terms that will be used throughout the guide, and also offer a key to how the guide is arranged. Many of the terms used have obvious meaning but I thought it best to list these three examples to avoid any confusion.

'Face / Side'
Every building will have at least one 'Face' being photographed, this usually being the front of the building. The term 'Face' will be used to describe a single 'Side' of a building. For example a shop positioned in the middle of a terrace will have two possible 'Faces', these being the front and back of the building. Most likely only one 'Face' (the front) will be photographed in this example. A detached building (depending on its shape) might have four or more 'Faces', front, back and sides.

'Hero Side'

When we talk about the 'Hero Side' of a building we are normally dealing with the front, but not always. The term 'Hero' is referring to the Side (or Face) of the building where the most detail (geometric and textural detail) will be lavished. In the example used later in this guide you will see that the holiday apartments have their 'Hero Side' at what is essentially the back of the building, the side facing the sea front.

'Cloning'
Cloning is a PhotoShop (PhotoShop is one of the photo editing software applications we use) technique we use for carefully sampling material around obstructions and than layering these sampled materials over the obstructed area, thus removing the unwanted element from the image.

Hint Icon Well, that's the terms out of the way, now I'll quickly tell you about the camera icon you will see on each page. To make sure you can quickly see all the 'key points' I have put this little camera icon next to each of them. I've also tried to keep the descriptions as short as possible while giving you all the details, I don't want to get you bogged down with too much reading.
